Draw a Thing 9/25/16: Rooster

I like roosters :3 Forgot to erase the pencil lines before coloring with markers. Drawing, inking, and coloring took about 20 to 30 minutes.

Unfortunately, there is quite a bit of marker bleed through even with the 180g paper. It’s not really that big of a deal so long as I keep a blotter on folded in the notebook. It does though render the back of the page mostly unusable, but whatever.

Cinderella Castle (Musings on Disney World)

I finally got around to pulling the pictures off of my camera and into Lightroom. I should in theory post at least some of them on Facebook or Flickr or something as requested instead of forgetting and then hoarding them on my harddrive per usual. It is way more convenient and way less cumbersome to just snap photos on my phone and then post them while waiting in line, but it is also far less satisfying than using an actual camera.

One thing is certain: Whenever it is that we get around to visiting Disney World again in future, it will not be in the middle of August. When we had visited Orlando in May 4 years ago, it was warm but not overly so. Nevertheless, we had a great time. I highly recommend taking the Keys to the Kingdom Tour in the Magic Kingdom if anyone has a chance.

Draw a Thing 9/19/16: Knife Crab

I used to be pretty okayish at drawing by virtue of doodling literally all the time. At some point I stopped and fell out of practice. New personal project: Draw something every day (or at least once a week or whenever as long as it is regular.) The idea is that the more I draw, the less shitty the drawings become. It’s also fun.

Source material for the crab was a random google image search of the word “crab.” Coloring is all Keiya original. Inspiration was admittedly this.

Also worth noting: A disproportionate number of early drawings either have guns, knives, or other related implements. In retrospect, I wonder if I should have explained to non-geek folk that they were more of a fantasy/sci-fi character concept art thing and not a, “I like stabbing things” art thing.

Tools used: Leuchtturm Sketchbook, Staedtler Mars Lumograph pencils (I think I used HB for sketching both), Prismacolor fine line markers, Prismacolor Premiere colored markers that have been laying in a box for x years.

Hiking Volcan Mountain

We went hiking on Sunday up Volcan Mountain (near Julian). It’s about a 5 mile round trip hike if I recall correctly. Decent hike, was kind of warm.

The loop at the top has a picnic bench. Lunch was MRE menu #10: Chilli Mac (pretty good).

The Salton Sea is visible from the top of the trail, which was kind of neat. Sadly, no apple pie was purchased on the way home. As always, parking in Julian is a nightmare unless you get there super early (which we did, but to hike).
